Lia Bishop, MSW, RSW

Trauma Therapist / Clinical Social Worker

My Approach

I bring a deeply relational approach to therapy, grounded in compassion, curiosity, and respect for the journey of healing and suffering. Therapy is a shared space for growth and where our stories and experiences are examined delicately and thoughtfully. I believe each of us deserves to reconnect with ourselves and our environments, and I feel honoured to work alongside clients in returning to a place of belonging and safety.

Although healing may not always be linear, therapy can be a dependable foundation for navigating change and gaining empowerment. I provide therapy in-person in Maple Ridge, virtual sessions and introductory calls for those looking for the right-fit.

Who I Help

I specialize in supporting people who are:
- Seeking to build insight, safety and connection with themselves and others.
- Facing challenges related to grief, loss, trauma, and low self-worth.
- Needing support with mental health concerns, such as stress, being overwhelmed, depression, and substance use.

I work with clients to develop individualized goals and treatment plans using evidence-based modalities and holistic approaches that safely and meaningfully address root concerns and presenting issues. In trauma work, I use parts and attachment-based modalities as we gently explore our inner world and sense of self.

About Me

I come to clinical therapy with over 10 years experience in community and frontline work with vulnerable populations. I am attentive to how identity and systemic factors shape mental health and healing. My background and personal experience inform a strong social justice lens for my clinical practice.

When I am not in session, you can find me sweating out life in a hot yoga class or tending to a medicinal plant garden. Being in nature and practicing mind-body connection are self-care practices I value.

Healing may not be linear, but with care, curiosity, and connection, it can lead us back to belonging.
